How Is an Enzyme Created in the Human Body?

Enzymes and proteins can be found in the body, mainly acting as a catalyst for various biological processes and chemical reactions. Without enzymes, many of the chemical reactions that are taking place in our body right this second would not be possible. So, as you can imagine, these are very important, just like amino acids.

Okay, so we know what these are created in the body, but whereabouts are these actually created? Mostly, enzymes are created in the pancreas, stomach, and small intestine, especially the digestive types. However, enzymes are also created in the salivary glands and various other glands and organs around the body.

What do enzymes do?

There are many, many different enzymes in the body, all of which are responsible and involved with various different chemical reactions. For example, digestive enzymes help break down and digest food, saliva contains certain enzymes to help break down starch, and maltase, also found in saliva, breaks down sugar into glucose, providing us with energy.

These speed up chemical reactions which could possibly take years to accomplish, cutting the completion time down drastically, to as little as a few milliseconds. As previously mentioned, these help us maintain regular bodily functions, including eating, sleeping, digestion, and movement.

In the most basic terms, these help support life, playing a large part in digestion, and conducting various chemical reactions throughout the day, all of which we are unaware of.
